What you'll learn

Highlight #1

Foundational Skills for Safe Integration: Clinicians will learn the basic principles of dynamic body weight support, strategies for fall prevention, and software navigation, providing the confidence to safely incorporate the Vector System into clinical practice.

Highlight #2

Advanced System Features and Techniques: Clinicians will gain expertise in advanced Vector System capabilities, including gait smoothing, ascent assist, and enhanced fall prevention, enabling more precise and effective rehabilitation interventions.

Highlight #3

Outcome Measures and Clinical Application: Clinicians will learn about integrated outcome measures, such as the TUG, and applying the Vector System in complex neurorehabilitation scenarios to optimize patient outcomes across a range of functional abilities.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 1. Identify appropriate patient populations for dynamic body weight support, including key indications and contraindications for use of the Vector system. 2. Apply safety protocols related to harnessing, fitting, and monitoring patients to minimize risk during training sessions. 3. Demonstrate proper setup and operation of the Vector system, including programming settings to meet individual patient needs. 4. Integrate clinical decision-making to adjust body weight support parameters across different rehabilitation scenarios. 5. Incorporate best practices for enhancing patient outcomes, including gait, balance, and functional mobility training. 6. Troubleshoot common issues related to system setup, harnessing, and patient progression. 7. Evaluate clinical outcomes and document use of the Vector system to support safe and effective rehabilitation practices.

Instructor

Wendy Warfield, MHA, OTR/L, is the Sr. Manager of Education at Bioness Medical and brings over two decades of experience as an Occupational Therapist to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Elizabethtown College and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Maryland. Wendy has treated a broad range of adult and pediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, with a strong focus on neurological rehabilitation. Her work at the Kennedy Krieger Institute: International Center for Spinal Cord Injury helped shape her expertise in Activity-Based Therapy (ABT) approaches and advanced clinical applications of functional electrical stimulation (FES) devices. For over 15 years, Wendy has delivered courses on integrating advanced neurorehabilitation technologies into clinical practice, with an emphasis on FES therapies, both nationally and internationally. She is committed to providing evidence-based education that supports improved patient outcomes.
